Hello
My name is Edmund Joseph. I'm a multidisciplinary artist based in Manchester. I was originally born in St. Croix U.S.V.I., spent my childhood in Nassau Bahamas, lived 6 years in the U.S. and currently call Manchester home. I got into performing around eight years ago doing traditional theatre but currently find contemporary theatre and performance art more interesting
My Work
My work sits at the intersection of multiple cultures, perspectives, and disciplines. This plurality shapes my approach to performance as both artform and inquiry. I aim to make work that is inviting and accessible on the surface, yet layered with ideas that quietly challenge perceptions or open the floor for inquiry. Lot's of my work challenges social norms and hierarchy. However, not all my work does and I like exploring the value of communal spaces and the shared human experience. This has driven me to my recent focus on rave based performances. My work can be described as immersive, durational, and autobiographical. Dance, music, rhythm, visuals/multi-media are used as a medium to deliver my art.
